“Cyberpunk 2077” DLC is CDPR’s biggest yet

CD Projekt Red

CD Projekt Red has announced that its “Cyberpunk 2077” game’s upcoming expansion pack, “Phantom Liberty,” will have the biggest budget of any DLC the company has made to date.

The news reportedly came from the company’s investor relations manager in an article in Polish financial newspaper Parkiet (via Wccftech). They added that the studio is happy with the expansion’s current state of development.

Phantom Liberty, the only planned DLC for the game, is billed as “a cyberpunk 2077 espionage thriller expansion set in a brand new area of Night City” and will feature Idris Elba as Solomon Reed, FIA’s new American Secret Service America.

He joins Keanu Reeves reprising his role as Johnny Silverhand, and Sasha Gray as the voice of radio DJ Ash on the in-game radio station 89.7 Growl FM.

The next cyberpunk game, currently called “Project Orion,” will begin development at a new US-based studio called CD Projekt Red North America.

Originally set to be one of the biggest games of the last generation of consoles, the game’s launch ended up being a disaster and a cautionary tale after a series of technical issues led to a wave of refunds and the game being withdrawn.

After numerous patches and a successful Netflix animated series, interest in the game has been revived, with the game reportedly selling over 20 million copies.
