343 Industries will continue to develop Halo “now and in the future”

Rumor has it that 343 Industries is no longer leading the development of the Halo series, and the studio has stated on Twitter that it will continue to “develop Halo now and in the future.”

Pierre Hintze, head of studio at 343 Industries, at Twitter, Said: “Halo and The Master Chief are here to stay. 343 Industries will continue to develop Halo now and in the future, including epic stories, multiplayer, and more of the things that make Halo great.”

The news comes on the heels of Microsoft’s massive 10,000 layoffs, with many employees at Xbox Game Studios, The Coalition, 343 Industries and Bethesda being let go. Not long after, it was reported that Halo: Infinite director Joseph Stanton had left 343 Industries to rejoin Xbox Publishing.

Rumors then surfaced that 343 Industries would no longer lead the development of the Halo series, but instead help third-party studios bring Halo to life in the form of new games. A leaker named Bathrobe Spartan has even said that original plans for Halo Infinite’s story-based DLC have been scrapped, Metro reports.

In response to the rumors, 343 Industries planted its flag and said it would continue to exist.

Halo Infinite has had a bumpy journey since its announcement, from its controversial E3 2020 demo to its unpopular original Battle Pass and progression system, which has since changed to do away with split-screen co-op.

There are also a lot of positives, as we scored 9/10 in both the single player and multiplayer campaigns of Halo Infinite, and the team has done a lot to address fan complaints.
